SUMMARY:GreenDrinks Beaufort June 2023 Gathering
DESCRIPTION:As always we will have about 45 minutes of networking/ social time and then or featured speaker. \nOur own steering committee member\, Annie Boyd\, will be our presenter at our June gathering. She will be talking about the “Coastal Explorers and Young Naturalists” and the “St. Phillips Island Adventure” kids camps that Coastal Expeditions will be hosting this summer. \nThis is the first summer that they are offering summer camps for kids of Beaufort County! These camps get the kids on the water\, exploring the salt marshes and barrier islands of Beaufort\, with each activity *secretly* relating to the South Carolina College and Career Ready Science Standards\, strengthening their team building skills and exercising their STEAM skills. \nAnnie moved to Beaufort after studying Marine Science and Biology at Coastal Carolina University. She has been a marine science educator since 2017\, working at Ripley’s Aquarium of Myrtle Beach\, and has had experience in species conservation while working with a variety of animals such as manatees\, sea lions\, macaws\, and panthers. In Beaufort\, she has worked for Hunting Island State Park as the Program Specialist\, the Beaufort Soil and Water Conservation District\, as the Education Coordinator\, and has finally found her home with Coastal Expeditions Beaufort as the Education Coordinator.
