SUMMARY:Swing Bridge Run 2023
DESCRIPTION:The Swing Bridge Run will be on Saturday\, November 4th 2023. Join Holy Trinity Classical Christian School in cooperation with the City of Beaufort for a 5K Run and All Ages Bridge Walk through historic downtown Beaufort and across the Woods bridge on a USATF certified 5K course. \nThe Swing Bridge Run is part of a the Beaufort Triple Crown\, a three 5k race series. Participants who complete all three races will be eligible for special series awards for best combined time. The registration bundle is only available until October 5\, 2023.  \nDon’t like to run? Support our event by registering as a walker. Registered Walkers but will not be timed and will turn around at the end of the bridge before Meridian Road. Registered Walkers will receive a t-shirt with registration. T-shirts must be picked up at packet pickup – but will not be issued a race bib.  \nThe race will be preceded by a Sunrise Prayer Gathering at 7:15 am under the pavilion at the Henry C. Chambers Waterfront Park where all are invited to join. Please bring a chair or a blanket to sit on and join us as we pray for the students and families of our Beaufort community\, as well as for Holy Trinity’s sister school Good Shepherd Academy in South Sudan.

SUMMARY:Beaufort County Open Land Trust Auldbrass Tours
DESCRIPTION:Every odd numbered year\, the Beaufort County Open Land Trust is permitted to host tours at Auldbrass Plantation in Yemassee for one weekend as a fundraiser for the organization\, and tours are now scheduled for the fall of 2023. \nThe Open Land Trust’s 2023 Auldbrass Tours are scheduled to be held from Thursday\, November 2nd through Saturday\, November 4th\, from 830am to 530pm. Auldbrass’ address is State Rd S-7-33\, Yemassee\, SC 29945. \nThe house was designed by famous American architect Frank Lloyd Wright\, and is considered to be one of Wright’s greatest design achievements of his life. \nThis year\, there is a special event added on Saturday\, November 4th\, from 6 to 9pm called “Auldbrass After Dark.” This is a special cocktail party plus a tour. Tickets are limited and they include food and beverages\, live entertainment and tours of both the grounds and of the main house\, after dark. \nAccording to the Open Land trust’s Eventbrite listing for the event\, for the daytime tours\, there will be morning and afternoon Tickets. The division of tickets is to assist with the flow of the main house portion of the tour. \nA buyer of a morning ticket has the ability to tour the main house from 830am to 1230pm. You may stay on property longer but your ticket restricts you to the main house portion of the tour to the morning session. \nA buyer of an afternoon ticket has the ability to tour the main house from 1231pm to 530pm. Attendees may come earlier or stay on property longer but your ticket restricts you to the main house portion of the tour to the afternoon session. \nThe only exception is on Saturday Afternoon. Saturday Afternoon tickets will end at 4:00 pm to make way for Auldbrass After Dark. \nAll ticket proceeds go to the important work of the Beaufort County Open Land Trust\, and you can get more information and purchase your tickets here. \nA beautiful and historic Lowcountry spot originally settled back in 1736\, Wright’s plantation was purchased in 1987 by Hollywood producer and Wright fan\, Joel Silver\, famous for films including Die Hard\, The Matrix and Lethal Weapon. \nThe house\, stable complex and kennels of the 4\,000-acre estate on the banks of the Combahee River were designed by Wright from 1939 through 1941\, and it was then renamed Auldbrass.

DESCRIPTION:Beaufort History Museum is pleased to again welcome the 79th New York Highlander Regiment re-enactors to the Arsenal Courtyard for a living history encampment event.  The re-enactors will set up camp in the walled Arsenal Courtyard and provide a unique educational opportunity for visitors of all ages\, who will be able to interact with the soldiers to learn firsthand how life was lived in Beaufort during the Civil War years. \nHere’s what you can expect. \nHistorical re-enactors in full military regalia\nExperience Civil War era camp life through live presentations \nEnjoy educational discussions and interactive activities for the whole family\nWatch drills and marching throughout the day\nAdmission is free to the Encampment in the Arsenal courtyard (donations to support the Museum are much appreciated). On the day of the Encampment event\, admission to the Museum’s Exhibition Hall on the second floor of the Arsenal will be specially priced at $5.00 per visitor. Museum members\, children\, and active military and their families are admitted to the Museum free of charge at all times.  \nBeaufort History Museum thanks our encampment partners\, 79th Highlander Regiment leader Tom Vaselopulos\, the re-enactors\, the BHM Board\, our knowledgeable Docents\, BHM members and the citizens of Beaufort for their generosity and support.
