DESCRIPTION:Veterans Day is a time for us to pay our respects to those who have served. For one day\, we stand united in respect for our veterans and their service to America. In celebration\, the Beaufort County Department of Veterans Affairs is hosting the 2024 Veterans Day Parade through downtown Beaufort on Monday\, November 11th. \nThe parade will begin with the lineup of floats\, bands and civic groups at 830am by the Beaufort National Cemetery and officially starts at 10am. It will follow the traditional route and end at the intersection of Boundary and Bladen Streets after a full “loop\,” covering Boundary\, Carteret\, Bay and Bladen Streets. \nThis year’s parade Grand Marshall will be announced soon \nIn last year’s parade\, more than 40 community groups and individuals submitted applications to participate with floats\, bands or walking groups. \nEvery community group\, children’s group\, civic organization\, and community member is encouraged to show their community spirit and our veterans how much they are appreciated. \nIn case of inclement weather\, the parade will be canceled. \nFor more information about the Beaufort Veterans Day Parade\, contact Beaufort County Veterans Affairs at 843-255-6880.

With only dirt roads\, he had an incredible childhood — one that he’ll share with us during this talk. Collins attended elementary school in Bluffton until the school burned down. From then on\, he had to commute to school in Savannah every day. \nCollins is an an avid fisherman and outdoorsman and had an advertising agency for over 35 years. He often fishes and hunts before going to work. He was an outdoor writer for the Island Packet for 13 years and now writes for Bluffton/ Hilton Head Sun newspaper. DESCRIPTION:We’re looking for volunteers ages 18 years and older to lead saltwater fishing clinics and participate in SCDNR fishing related outreach programs. We would like to start a volunteer-lead fishing program at the Port Royal Maritime Center and the surrounding areas. These programs include: \n-Saltwater Fishing Clinics: Volunteers lead/co-lead saltwater fishing clinics from docks\, piers\, or the surf. \n-Assist with Fishing Tournaments and Fishing Rodeos \n-Assist with Fishing Related Events and Outreach Events \nVolunteers from all along the South Carolina coast are welcome. We provide training\, supplies and support. This training will be an in-person training and will include a Powerpoint and hands-on component. Volunteers are required to participate in this training! Please sign up to take this instructor training class. Information on the in-person training is below. \n(More information about the in-person training will be sent out once registered and near the training date.) \nDetails for the program are below: \n-You must take the in-person instructor training course offered by SCDNR \n-You must pass a SLED background check. If you are already a volunteer with Port Royal Maritime Center\, you do not have to worry about this. \n-You must participate in at least 2 fishing events a year \nIf you have any other questions about the program or can’t make the training\, but are still interested in volunteering\, please email Pamela at corwinp@dnr.sc.gov

DESCRIPTION:Join us this Fall\, November 23rd 2024\, for our first annual Live weigh-in Red Fish Tournament.  \nAnglers must catch and bring their red fish back to be weighed. Each team’s 2 heaviest redfish will be scored. Total weight of both fish combined will be your total points.ALL REDFISH MUST BE SLOT FISH. NOTHING UNDER 15″ AND NOTHING OVER 23″ WILL BE ACCEPTED. Any angler who brings any under slot or over slot fish back to the weigh station will be disqualified. Fish must also be alive during weigh in. 1LB will be deducted for each dead fish.  \nBoth live and artificial bait is allowed during this tournament.  \nLines in at 7am. Weigh in begins at 3pm and ends at 4pm. Must be present at the weigh station by 4pm.  \n$100 base entry fee per boat\, this will include 1 angler. Each additional angler is $50. Kayaks are welcome\, so long as you are able to keep your fish alive for the weigh in. Entry fee for kayak is $100 (1 angler). \nThere will be food and beer available at the weigh in\, prepared by yours truly.  \nMandatory Captains Meeting Friday\, November 22nd at 6pm. Raffle will be conducted at Captains Meeting.Every one gets 1 raffle ticket with entry\, additional tickets will be available for purchase.
