These model trains at the library are special\, and they’ll be pulling out of the train station before you know it and won’t be back until next Christmas. \nThe library is located at 311 Scott Street in downtown Beaufort.

(easy peasy!) \nEveryone meets at the pavilion at the lighthouse on North Beach. Come early and enjoy the pre-plunge festivities. Everyone can enjoy beverages\, snacks\, and the traditional fun costume parade—which gets more outrageous every year. \n\nRegistration starts at 12 Noon\, Plunge at 1 PM\nRegister online and receive your ticket via email\nFood Trucks will be on site\nSouvenir Pelican Plunge T-shirts will be on sale at the gift shop\nPark entry fee is not included in the registration fee\, but January 1\, 2023 is the last day to use your 2022 Friends of Hunting Island decal for park entry\nYou can purchase your Friends of Hunting Island 2023 membership and parking decal at the Pelican Plunge\n\nTickets are only $10 for adults and $5 for children. \nThe Pelican Plunge is one of our favorite annual events and hundreds take the plunge each year. DESCRIPTION:The saying “sticks and stones may break my bones\, but words will never hurt me” is a phrase that has been used for countless years to illustrate the idea that words don’t hurt. However\, we all know that words have a large impact. The key is how we use them\, particularly when it comes to grief and loss. This workshop will explore how poetry can transform our relationship with grief by using elegies\, language and imagery to relinquish pain\, give power and honor our losses. \nThis interactive writers workshop will be held as an online video conference call through Zoom. His poems have appeared in Five Points\, Guernica\, The Missouri Review\, New England Review\, The New Republic\, The Southern Review\, and elsewhere. He has received scholarships and fellowships from The Sewanee Writers’ Conference\, Inprint\, and the Krakow Poetry Seminar. In 2016\, his poem “Ed Smith” won the Poetry Society of America’s Cecil Hemley Award.
