DESCRIPTION:The Town of Bluffton is proud to host its 51st annual Bluffton Christmas Parade\, Saturday December 3 at 10 a.m. through Bluffton’s Historic District.  \nThis parade\, which has been a part of the Bluffton tradition for more than five decades\, has grown exponentially parallel to Bluffton’s population. Due to the growth\, public and personal safety remains the event’s most important priority. Please note the new rules\, detailed in the Christmas Parade application\, to ensure safety for all.  \nHighlights of new parade rules:  \n•	Entries are first come\, first serve – please note there is limit of 125 entries for the 2022 parade. It is advised to submit your application as soon as it is completed.  \n•	The Town is asking parade entrants to give a donation to the Bluffton Lutzie 43 Charitable Fund\, in lieu of a parade entry fee. Your donation will help fund scholarships for Bluffton’s students as well as support the Town’s safe driving campaign\, to reduce/eliminate vehicle causalities and fatalities in our Town.  \n•	Please donate in an amount of your choice via:  http://cflowcountry.civicore.com/BlufftonLutzie43 \n•	The Community Foundation of the Lowcountry\, a non-profit organization\, manages these funds and donations are tax-deductible. \n•	Donating\, in lieu of an entry fee\, is an effort to streamline the application process and use the spirit of the Christmas Parade to help our neighbors remain safe year-around.\n•	Throwing of candy or any item from parade vehicle or float is prohibited. \n•	People are allowed to walk alongside the parade entry and distribute items to crowd. You can tune in by visiting facebook.com/CivilWarMed at the scheduled time. \nMuseum staff will talk with Rich Condon\, a park ranger at Reconstruction Era National Historic Site\, about the establishment of military and refugee hospitals in Beaufort\, during the Union occupation\, 160 years ago. \nRich Condon is a historian and park ranger from Pittsburgh\, Pennsylvania with a BA in public history from Shepherd University. For ten years Rich has worked with a multitude of sites and organizations including The Battle of Franklin Trust\, Soldiers & Sailors Memorial Hall and Museum\, National Museum of Civil War Medicine\, Harpers Ferry National Historical Park\, Flight 93 National Memorial\, and\, since the Spring of 2020\, at Reconstruction Era National Historical Park. He has written for Civil War Times Magazine\, The American Battlefield Trust\, as well as Emerging Civil War\, and operates the Civil War Pittsburgh blog\, which focuses on sharing stories related to Western Pennsylvania’s role in the Civil War.

Some questions answered include: What led to the Annual Christmas Bird Count? How does it work? What are some common birds seen on Hilton Head during the Count?  Do you have to be a fantastic birder to help?  \nCome and enjoy images of common birds\, and you just might be inspired to help!  \nCarol Clemens is a retired High School Spanish teacher who moved to the Lowcountry after retiring in 2005. She holds advanced degrees from the University of Notre Dame. Among her volunteer activities\, Carol is a Lowcountry Master Naturalist\, a docent for the Coastal Discovery Museum\, an interpreter at Volunteers in Medicine\, teaches genealogy programs at the Heritage Library\, is active with the Hilton Head Notre Dame Club\, participates in various bird counts for the Hilton Head Audubon Society\, and is the coordinator of the Hilton Head Osprey Watch program. It’s a fun-filled night of all the Christmas classics sprinkled with some of Suzy’s hits through the years and select songs from her recent releases American Folk Songbook\, Lucky and Aces Redux. The whole family will enjoy this Swingin’ Little Christmas Show! \nSuzy exclaims\, “my favorite thing is watching the people who were pretty much dragged to the show\, and seeing their faces change as the night goes on!
