The 64th Annual Beaufort Water Festival started off with a bang on Friday night with a fireworks celebration over the Beaufort River that followed after an opening ceremony and a concert that was attended by thousands.

Boats dotted the river as the Parris Island Marine Band performed throughout the evening after remarks were made by this year’s Commodore Brian Patrick to officially kick off the festival.

Always in attendance to entertain were the Whistlers, a group of costumed past Commodores who just enjoy having a good time and making folks laugh.

This year’s 10-day festival, perpetually held at the Henry C. Chambers Waterfront Park, will feature entertainment, dozens of vendors and activities from now through Sunday, July 21st.

The Beaufort Water Festival continues on Saturday with a host of sporting events and the annual Saturday concert int he park featuring country music performer, Tyler Farr.
