It has been announced in a press release that Dick Stewart, founder of 303 Associates, is retiring from the company. Effective March 1, 2022, 303 Associates’ partners and co-owners Courtney Worrell and Jonathan Sullivan are co-CEO’s.

“Courtney Worrell is an excellent manager with an established record of solid achievement,” Stewart said in the release. “She has my complete confidence and support as she leads the real estate activities going forward.”

“Jonathan Sullivan is a seasoned and sophisticated hotel executive with broad experience.  He is ideally suited to continue his strong leadership in hotel and hospitality business.”

“I look outward to celebrating his continued successes,” he added.

“I have known and worked with Courtney and Jonathan for more than half their lives, I have celebrated their professional growth and I have admired their commitment to family and community.”

Dick Stewart went on to say that he is delighted to retire as these executives continue their leadership of the business they helped build.

Stewart made the news recently in February by creating a $100,000 revolving fund to assist residents of the Northwest Quadrant of the city in keeping heirs property and homes in their families. This includes “freedman’s cottages,” built by freed slaves who settled in the part of the city after the Civil War. The funding, Stewart says, comes as the number of parcels in Beaufort County and in the National Historic District in Beaufort that is owned by heirs is in decline.

He said the revolving fund is expected to be the first of several initiatives to address this challenge. The fund will provide financial assistance to families seeking to retain ownership of their land and buildings.

According to the release, Stewart’s retirement from his company has been planned for more than a year.
