Everyone loves strawberry season in Beaufort, and it’s finally here! Local strawberries are ready and it’s time to go and enjoy a taste of the spring, Beaufort-style. Barefoot Farms has announced that their U Pick strawberry fields will be opening up for the season on Saturday morning at 10am. The farm will stay open until all the ripe berries are picked.

Opening relatively on time this year despite colder weather, this weekend kicks off one of the favorite times of the year for many locals, spanning generations.

Grabbing a bucket and venturing out into the fields in search of the perfect strawberry is a springtime favorite in these parts.

Because strawberries get picked out and then more need time to ripen, Jackie and the crew at Barefoot Farms warns that hours will be limited during the beginning of the season. It’s best to call the farm at 843-592-1903 to find out if the fields are open before you come.

We reached out to Dempsey Farms and we were told that their U-Pick fields should be open in the next few days as well, and asked folks to keep checking their Facebook page for an announcement.
