17th Annual Beaufort International Film Festival Opening Ceremony

The Beaufort Film Society is pleased to present the 17th annual Beaufort International Film Festival (BIFF) February 21-26, 2023. As of November 2022, BIFF was ranked by filmmakers as one of the TOP 100 Best Reviewed Film Festivals by FilmFreeway.
Awards will be presented in the categories of Feature Film, Documentary – Short and Feature Length, Animation, Short Films, Student Films, and Screenplays. We will also have the Best Director, Best Actress, Best Actor, Best Ensemble Cast and Best Musical Score categories. And the ever popular audience voted awards -Audience Choice and Best Comedy.
The Santinni Patriot Spirit Award will be awarded this year for only the 4th time “The Gift” directed by David Carl Kniess. “The Gift” will screen on Saturday, February 25, Block #4 at 3:00 pm. See trailer here: https://vimeo.com/365895138.
Our Behind the Scenes Award will go to Dan Rogers, is based out of Columbia, SC and serves as Senior Project Manger with South Carolina Film Commission. Dan has recruited 175 projects to SC including Forrest Gump, Prince of Tides, The Notebook, Army Wives, Dear John and Outer Banks. Dan has over 34 years experience at the South Carolina Film Office and manages locations, scouts, permitting, location database, websites, economic development-marketing for the SC Film Commission.
A special presentation of “Stars Fell Again” which is a sequel to “Stars Fell on Alabama” will be screened on Tuesday, February 21st at 4:00 pm. The Director VW Scheich and Producer Uyen Le are scheduled to appear for a Q&A following the screening. Other cast and crew members may make an appearance as well. The screening will be held at USCB Center for the Arts 805 Carteret Street. Admission is included in the All Events ticket holders and sponsor tickets. Individual tickets may be purchased online or at the door.
The Opening Ceremony will take place on Tuesday, February 21st @ 6:30 pm at Tabby Place located at 913 Port Republic Street, Downtown Beaufort. Dress code: Business casual.
Screenings will be held on Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday at University of South Carolina Center for the Arts located at 805 Carteret Street, Downtown Beaufort.
The Pre-Awards Champagne Reception and Awards Ceremony will be held on Sunday, February 26th located at 805 Carteret Street, Downtown Beaufort. Dress code: Formal Optional. 4:00 pm AWARDS START at 5:00 pm. NO TICKET SALES AT THE DOOR
