The Beaufort area’s outdoor festival season kicked off this weekend and Port Royal has never smelled better as the all-you-can-eat Bands Brews & BBQ festival filled the port of Port Royal with some 30 cooking teams from all over the southeast.
Friday evening brought live music, brews and wings, wings, wings and Saturday was the big day with the big state-sanctioned SC BBQ Association Butts cook off taking center stage…and the aroma of lots of great BBQ filled the air.
The entire festival was a party. Thousands of attendees made their way around the port trying all kinds of different foods and chatting with all their friends and neighbors who were enjoying their time as well.
With team names like Gettin’ Piggy With It and The Hog Mafia in attendance cooking their best, folks took their BBQ seriously. As much fun as this event is, and trust us it is the all you can eat kind of fun, it serves a higher purpose by being a fundraiser for Friends of Caroline Hospice, a worthy cause if there ever was one.

“It’s always amazing to see our community come together to support the mission of Friends of Caroline Hospice. We are always honored each year to kick off the South Carolina Barbeque Association BBQ Trail.”
And we’re grateful for the fun family events that our local non-profit organizations like Friends of Caroline Hospice put together for our awesome community to enjoy.
