Books-A-Million (BAM) opened its doors on Friday in the Beaufort Plaza Shopping Center at 11 Robert Smalls Pkwy, just across from the street from Chipotle.
With over 260 stores spanning 32 states and the District of Columbia, Books-A-Million offers a diverse selection of books for adults and children, as well as toys, collectibles, games, and gifts.
The 9,000 square foot store opened on Friday morning, without a Joe Muggs coffee shop, and the new location has a grand opening celebration scheduled for September 21st.
According to store management, newer BAM locations are not being outfitted with a Joe Muggs coffee shop.
Also according to management, the grand opening will offer face painting for kids, Disney Princesses in costume, discounted memberships, and will also be catered with free refreshments from Sunny Summers Cafe, another newer Plaza neighbor.
The store will also soon start a series of Children’s Storybook Readings on Saturday mornings.
Store hours are Monday thru Saturday 10am to 8pm, and 11am to 7pm on Sundays.
Both Books-A-Million has now joined newer Beaufort Plaza tenants including Publix Supermarket, Beall’s, Chipotle, and Five Guys Burgers & Fries.
Beaufort is home to three independently owned bookstores currently. It is no telling what the arrival of Books-A-Million in town will mean for them. But, please, when you are out looking for a good book, don’t forget about The Beaufort Bookstore, NeverMore Books, and McIntosh Book Shoppe.
Books-A-Million in Beaufort. We never saw that coming.
But it’s here.
