Saltwater Fishing Instructor Training (Beaufort County)
We’re looking for volunteers ages 18 years and older to lead saltwater fishing clinics and participate in SCDNR fishing related outreach programs. We would like to start a volunteer-lead fishing program at the Port Royal Maritime Center and the surrounding areas. These programs include:
-Saltwater Fishing Clinics: Volunteers lead/co-lead saltwater fishing clinics from docks, piers, or the surf.
-Assist with Fishing Tournaments and Fishing Rodeos
-Assist with Fishing Related Events and Outreach Events
Volunteers from all along the South Carolina coast are welcome. We provide training, supplies and support. This training will be an in-person training and will include a Powerpoint and hands-on component. Volunteers are required to participate in this training! Please sign up to take this instructor training class. Information on the in-person training is below.
(More information about the in-person training will be sent out once registered and near the training date.)
Details for the program are below:
-You must take the in-person instructor training course offered by SCDNR
-You must pass a SLED background check. If you are already a volunteer with Port Royal Maritime Center, you do not have to worry about this.
-You must participate in at least 2 fishing events a year
If you have any other questions about the program or can’t make the training, but are still interested in volunteering, please email Pamela at corwinp@dnr.sc.gov
