If you love hearing the sound of freedom in Beaufort, SC then you’ll definitely be happy to hear that you’ll be in for more of it in the coming days. MCAS Beaufort has announced via its Facebook page that there will be increased activity and noise levels in and around the area as well as Townsend Bombing Range through November 21st.

The scheduled training could be during the morning, during the day, and/or during the evening.

“While MCAS Beaufort is committed to minimizing disturbances, the nature of these operations may result in elevated noise levels at various times throughout the day and into the evening,” MCAS Beaufort said.

“We appreciate your understanding and patience during this period, which is essential to maintaining the readiness and safety of our personnel and community.”

The training begins on Monday, November 17th and runs through Friday, November 21st.

Folks in the Beaufort area are used to this, and it’s a part of our lives.

MCAS Beaufort has a total of seven fighter-attack squadrons, including five Marine Corps F/A-18 squadrons and two Navy F/A-18 squadrons. It also has the F-35B Lightning II training squadron, which is the only one in the Marine Corps, and supports two additional F-35B squadrons and one F-35C squadron.

The Townsend Bombing Range is the East Coast’s primary air-to-ground training facility, located in coastal Georgia and used by the Marine Corps, Navy, Air Force, and Army from several states. It is used for practicing air-to-ground weapons delivery, including precision-guided munitions, and has recently undergone modernization and expansion to support these training needs. The range also plays a role in environmental conservation and community engagement, such as a recent hunt event for local residents.

We love hearing the sound of freedom in the sky over Beaufort, SC.
