Memorial Day is fast approaching and the Beaufort National Cemetery is looking for volunteers to assist in placing flags at every one of the nearly 25,000 grave sites within its brick walls to help honor our fallen Veterans.
Beaufort National Cemetery is coordinating the placing of the flags on Sunday, May 26th.
Individuals can volunteer or groups can get together and help out. School and church groups, scout troops and other groups and volunteer organizations are encouraged to come out.
Flag placing starts around 6pm and will end when all flags are placed. Flags are provided by the National Cemetery.
If you are interested in helping, you can just show up at the date and time specified.
Groups wishing to schedule an individual Flags In event between Wednesday May 22nd and Friday, May 24th should contact the cemetery at 843-524-3925 or Beaufort.NationalCemetery@va.gov no later than Friday, May 17th.
Also, this year’s Flags Out event (removal of the grave site flags) for the public will be held on May 28th starting at 9am. Groups wishing to schedule an individual Flags Out event between Tuesday, May 28th and Wednesday, May 29th should also contact the cemetery.
