La Nopalera opens downtown Beaufort location

You can now add Mexican cuisine to the long list of delicacies that are available in downtown Beaufort. After several months of planning, La Nopalera Mexican Restaurant has officially opened its third location in the area, at 906 Port Republic Street in the heart of historic downtown.

The already mega-popular restaurant has two locations around Beaufort. One on Ribaut Road and another on Sams Point Road on Ladyโ€™s Island; but many consider the downtown location to be a bonus.

You might remember, in past years, the Port Republic location has been home to Emily’s Restaurant & Tapas Bar, a Greek restaurant, and most recently, Jah Lion Grill & Bar.

Renowned for its fresh ingredients and traditional recipes, La Nopalera provides a culinary experience that transports diners straight to Mexico. Signature dishes are complemented by a warm, inviting atmosphere, making it a perfect spot for families and friends.

Perhaps the most popular Mexican fare in the area, La Nopalera is known for its fresh ingredients and traditional recipes.

Opening its doors back in 1998 by Javier Valencia and Abraham Cruz, the restaurantsโ€™ day-to-day operations are currently managed by the Cruz Family, while the brand itself is operated by the Valencia Family along with other locations in both Georgia & Florida.

The Ladyโ€™s Island La Nopalera location opened in 2017 and is now the only larger Mexican restaurant on the island.

Locals are quite fond of the combination dinners offered for their simplicity and quickness. Whether it’s street tacos, burritos, or sizzling fajitas that you’re looking for, most locals find the perfect table at La Nop. Their most popular dish, according to management, is the Molcajete, which comes with grilled steak, chicken, and shrimp, with grilled veggies and grilled cactus.

The restaurant prides itself on making its rice, beans, and sauces in house daily, guaranteeing freshness.

Weโ€™ve enjoyed La Nop several times, personally, and want to congratulate the Cruz family and their staff on the opening of their new location.

The restaurant offers lunch, dinner, a full bar, as well as many specials throughout the week. And, it’s even once been named the Best Mexican Restaurant in South Carolina.

Check them out at 906 Port Republic Street. Hours of operation are Monday through Thursday, 11am to 10pm, Friday 11am to 1030pm, Saturday 1130am to 1030pm, and Sundays 1130 to 9.
