The Beaufort National Cemetery is hosting a volunteer event on Saturday, September 12, as part of the National Day of Service & Remembrance.
The cemetery is honoring the nearly 3,000 lives lost on September 11, 2001, and the countless first responders and service members who answered the call.
Volunteers are needed to help clean the headstones and the boundary wall; weeding planting beds and other light yard work activities.
If you wish to join them, bring buckets and light yard tools. The cemetery will supply the soapy water and soft bristle brushes.
Parking will be at the cemetery. Enter through the Rogers Street Gate. The event starts at 10am with a quick ceremony at the main flagpole to remember those lost on 9/11.
The 2026 National Day of Service and Remembrance takes place on Friday, September 11, 2026, marking the solemn 25th anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks.
