City of Beaufort/Town of Port Royal Deputy Fire Chief Sets Course Record in 100-Mile American Heroes Run Honoring 9/11
The City of Beaufort is proud to recognize Deputy Chief Ross Vezin of the City of Beaufort/Town of Port Royal Fire Department for his recent accomplishment in the American Heroes Run in Boulder, Colorado.
Vezin placed first in the 100-mile race and set a new course record with a time of 22 hours and 6 minutes.
The American Heroes Run honors the 343 firefighters who made the ultimate sacrifice on September 11, 2001, during the terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center.
Vezin chose to take on the 100-mile challenge as a way to honor the 343 firefighters, particularly in recognition of the 25th anniversary of September 11.
“For the 25th anniversary, I wanted to make it extra mentally and physically tough on myself and do something special to remember the 343 firefighters who didn’t make it home to their families,” said Vezin.
The City of Beaufort congratulates Deputy Fire Chief Vezin on this accomplishment of a record in the 100 mile run and thanks him for representing the City, the local fire service, and the 343 firefighters who made the ultimate sacrifice.
