If you think Pokemon cards are just for kids, you need to think again. What started in the late 1990s as a kids’ game has grown into one of the world’s most active collectibles markets, attracting longtime fans, investors, and a new generation discovering Pokémon through games, shows, and friends. Now, there is also a massive collectible Pokemon & sports card show on Lady’s Island that is packing the house time after time.
Collectible Pokemon card shows have exploded in popularity, driven by the franchise’s 30th anniversary, massive nostalgia, and a massive shift in the memorabolia scene. Once dominated solely by sports cards, modern card shows now feature entire rooms or dedicated vendor tables where Pokémon trading card games (TCG) frequently outnumber traditional sports memorabilia.
Many locals are discovering the bi-monthly Hilton Head Island-Beaufort Card Show at Beaufort Academy on Lady’s Island. It’s pretty darn big. The event offers 110 tables of Pokemon, sports cards, and more, with free admission in a very family‑friendly atmosphere inside the school’s gymnasium.
Featuring sports cards, Pokémon, TCG, memorabilia, and collectibles, the bi-monthly Hilton Head Island–Beaufort Card Show brings collectors, vendors, families, and hobby enthusiasts together for a fun-filled day celebrating the hobby.
The next event is this Saturday, September 26th, from 9am to 3pm.
Since early 2025, Richard and Zach of The Sports Card Authority, LLC have worked to
bring an exciting, family-friendly card and collectibles show to the local community. Now celebrating its ninth show, this event has grown immensely.
“It’s a huge local event with collectible cards ranging in price from six-figures to six cents,” Zach told us.
Now, you might not run into a first edition base set shadowless Charizard, an Illustrator Pikachu, or one-of-a-kind Honus Wagner or Babe Ruth cards, but you will still have lots of fun finding the next additions to your personal collection; which is what keeps the hobby thriving.
The spacious venue at Beaufort Academy offers plenty of room to shop, buy, sell, and trade, with free face painting adding even more fun for younger collectors and families.
Collectors should come hungry. The Beaufort Academy Equestrian Team will be selling
breakfast, BBQ, and concession favorites throughout the day, with food sales benefiting the
team. The menu includes BBQ plates with a choice of meats and sides, burger and hot dog, and much more. Traditional concession snacks and drinks will also be available.
A dedicated lunchroom provides additional space for guests to eat, break, rip, trade, and
connect with other collectors.
