After losing dozens of camping sites to damage from Hurricanes Matthew and Irma over the past few years, Hunting Island State Park has now added 25 new rustic tent sites at the campground.
And, there’s a bonus….they are beachfront sites too!
If you’ve ever been camping at the campground at Hunting Island then you’ve had a real treat. There’s not much that compares to pitching a tent next to the beach. These new sites aren’t equipped with electricity, but who needs that?
In addition to the 25 new sites, there are 110 other campsites that each include water and electric hookups and can accommodate RVs up to 40 feet long.
For those who prefer cabin camping, the state park has one two-bedroom cabin located near the lighthouse.
“We have officially opened 25 rustic tent sites in the Hunting Island State Park campground,” said a release by Friends of Hunting Island. “These beachfront sites have no electric, but do have central water, wifi and a comfort station.”
They new beachfront tent spots reserve for $40/night, and you can check them out and reserve yours by calling 866-345-7275 or reserving online at https://reserve.southcarolinaparks.com/hunting-island
Oh, by the way, mind the racoons. They love beachfront living.
