What might have been a thousand volunteers of all ages came out to participate in the annual Wreaths Across America ceremony at Beaufort National Cemetery on Saturday afternoon.
On a cold and windy morning, it was a very warming sight to see all those people dedicating their time to honoring our heroes.
Saturday was National Wreaths Across America Day with Christmas wreaths being placed at veteranโs grave sites at more than 1,600 locations in all 50 U.S. states, at sea and abroad; including all 230 National Cemeteries.
Each year since its official inception in 2007, millions of Americans – a third of whom are children – come together to REMEMBER the fallen, HONOR those that served and their families, and TEACH the next generation about the value of freedom.
Following an 1130am ceremony, a record 21,375 wreaths unloaded from 4 tractor trailers were laid at the grave markers of Beaufortโs heroes. These wreaths were all made possible by donations from all over.
The event saw the largest number of wreaths placed at the Beaufort National Cemetery to date, and it also saw one of the largest amount of volunteers to ever attend the event.
