A Hilton Head Christmas tradition is shining brightly again after nearly 10 years. Neighbors on Dove street on the South end of Hilton Head started lighting up their road with thousands of lights 30 years ago, in what became known as the Dove Street Light Festival.
The Christmas tradition then moved to Shelter Cove for a few years before shutting down.
The Hilton Head Office of Cultural Affairs, a local community organization, helped bring them back this year. The Dove Street Festival of Lights, an Island holiday tradition for 30 years returned to its original, neighborly location in the North Forest Beach neighborhood.
And it sure is a magical Christmas wonderland.
“The display is a gift to our community by the Dove Street Neighbors, and visitors from across the region will once again be able to experience the magic of the cascading and tastefully tacky display,” the organization said in a Facebook post.
The display will be up through New Year’s Day, and is free for anyone. The organization is accepting donations on behalf of The Deep Well Project and the Island Rec Association. No physical donations will be accepted in the drive-thru, please make all community donations online via the links below.
