Beaufort’s ghosts, ghouls and freaks are coming out at night as the 28th year of CAPA’s Ghost Tours hit the streets of downtown Beaufort next month.
The historic moss-lined streets of Beaufort are full of interesting ghostly stories and you can make plans to get spooked while taking a haunted tour beginning October 14th and you’ll hear lots of eerie accounts retelling haunted stories about our historic town.
Ghost tours will be available as either a 45-minute carriage ride or a 60-minute walking tour meeting ghosts and ghouls along the way who will reveal scary Beaufort stories that have been passed down for generations.
Legendary ghosts of Beaufort include Gauche, the 15th Century French dwarf who rumored to roam “The Castle” at 411 Craven Street. Gauche is said to be one of America’s oldest ghosts. Other ghostly stories include William Baynard, the unknown spirits living in Wigg-Barnwell House and Frogmore Manor, the Land’s End Light, the ghostly lovers of Fripp Island Beach.

Carriage tours via Southurn Rose Buggy Tours leave every 15 minutes starting at 630pm from the parking lot at 1006 Bay Street. Each narrated tour lasts approximately 45 minutes.
Carriage Tour: $25 adults/$15 children 3-11
Walking ghost tours of downtown Beaufort begin at 7pm and leave every 20 minutes from Cannon Park, across from 611 Bay Street. Each narrated walking tour lasts approximately one hour. Each day, the 7pm walking tour time slot is also stroller and pet friendly.
