Being home to three military bases and thousands of Veterans, it’s no surprise that Beaufort was named the most patriotic city in the entire Palmetto State for the FOURTH year in a row by Insurify.com, a popular insurance comparison shopping website headquartered in Cambridge, Massachusetts.
Every year, the website comes out with a list and this is the fourth straight time that beautiful Beaufort has appeared on it representing South Carolina.
How they choose
Insurify puts it’s list together based on its database of over 4 million car insurance applications. When applying for coverage, car owners are asked to indicate whether they or any other driver on their policy are an active service member or a veteran. Given this information, researchers were able to determine which community in each state had the most citizens with military service by population.
The military personnel and veterans in these communities have made a commitment to our nation’s defense; for that reason, they’ve earned the title of Most Patriotic Cities in America.
The winners
The most patriotic cities in our neighboring states are Fort Stewart (Hinesville), Georgia, Fayetteville, North Carolina and Atlantic Beach, Florida. (and Fairborn, Ohio)
With Beaufort being home to Parris Island, MCAS Beaufort and the U.S. Naval Hospital complex, there’s quite a heavy military presence in the area. That, coupled with the retirees that settle in Beaufort and the fact that we have a National Cemetery, makes our town quite the front runner in patriotism. In addition, the town is just so military friendly practically everywhere you turn.
Yes, Beaufort is indeed the most patriotic in SC.
