Beaufort did it again and this time it was popular travel website Far & Wide who named Beaufort the best small town in South Carolina, for the second time.

In picking Beaufort out of all the other towns in the Palmetto State and putting it on its recently published Best Small Towns in Every State list, updated in March, Far & Wide said Beaufort is “not-to-be-missed.”

“While many travelers are familiar with the welcoming Hilton Head Island, just across the way is Port Royal Island, home to Beaufort,” Far & Wide said.

“Each of the coastal Sea Islands of South Carolina are inviting, but Beaufort’s downtown district filled with historic and imposing antebellum mansions along palm tree-lined streets make it not-to-be-missed.”

This isn’t really that much of a surprise. We, with much bias, know that Beaufort is the best town. The accolades have been pouring in for Beaufort recently.

We’ve also recently been named one of the 25 Best Small Towns in America by Architectural Digest; the Most Charming Small Town in South Carolina; one of the Cutest Towns in the U.S. and the Most Quaint Town in South Carolina.

In addition to those, Southern Living magazine named the Old Sheldon Church ruins one of the South’s Most Beautiful Chapels; named Hunting Island State Park one of the Best State Parks in the South; and named downtown Beaufort’s Craven Street one of the South’s Most Beautiful Streets.
