Beaufort did it again! On Tuesday, beautiful Beaufort SC was named to the list of 11 Best Small Towns in America by the very popular Travel + Leisure magazine.

We couldn’t agree more.

In its article, Travel + Leisure said, “Hilton Head Island and Charleston might get all the acclaim when it comes to South Carolina Lowcountry destinations, but the state has plenty of small towns also worth visiting.”

“Stroll through downtown Beaufort (with a sweet tea in hand), walk along the beach at nearby Hunting Island State Park, and try some fresh seafood at a local restaurant.”

“Learn about the area’s history and about Gullah culture with a visit to the recently established Reconstruction Era National Historical Park and the Penn Center.”

Yep. They touched on all the right things there.

Beaufort was in some good company on the list. Among the ten other towns on the list are St. Augustine, FL, Mackinac Island. MI, Sedona, AZ, Hudson, NY and Telluride, CO.

The accolades have been pouring in for Beaufort recently.

In the past year, Beaufort has been named the Best Small Town in South Carolina, called One of the Cutest Towns in the U.S., the Most Quaint Town in South Carolina, and was just named the Most Charming Town in South Carolina for the second straight year.

In addition to those, Southern Living magazine named the Old Sheldon Church ruins one of the South’s most beautiful chapels; named Hunting Island State Park one of the best state parks in the South; and named downtown Beaufort’s Craven Street one of the South’s most beautiful streets.

Also, we’re both the Healthiest County in South Carolina and the Most Patriotic, too.

Travel + Leisure is a big deal. It’s a widely respected travel magazine based in New York City that has over 4.8 million readers, according to its corporate media kit.

Know, they all know about Beaufort.
