Beaufort did it again and this time it was the popular website Buzzfeed who named Beaufort among the coolest spots in the entire country.
In picking Beaufort out of all the other 19,495 towns in the country and putting it on its recently published Coolest Small Towns in the U.S. list, Buzzfeed said Beaufort is “bucolic,” and that’s as good a description as any.
“The second-oldest city in South Carolina after Charleston, Beaufort is bucolic small town living at its finest,” Buzzfeed said.
“Wander around the streets lined with historic old houses, then tuck into some local seafood — with a glass of sweet tea, of course.”
They finished up the description the way most of us finish up our days here in Beaufort, by saying, “don’t miss watching the sun set over the Beaufort River.”
This isn’t really that much of a surprise. The accolades have been pouring in for Beaufort recently.
We’ve also recently been named one of the 25 Best Small Towns in America by Architectural Digest; the Most Charming Small Town in South Carolina; one of the Cutest Towns in the U.S. and the Most Quaint Town in South Carolina.
In addition to those, Southern Living magazine named the Old Sheldon Church ruins one of the South’s Most Beautiful Chapels; named Hunting Island State Park one of the Best State Parks in the South; and named downtown Beaufort’s Craven Street one of the South’s Most Beautiful Streets.
It’s easy to see….everyone loves beautiful Beaufort SC.
