“If you picture a perfect Southern town, it would probably look a lot like Beaufort, a South Carolina stunner complete with coastal views and 18th-century mansions.” That’s what mega-popular Conde Nast Traveler said about Beaufort, SC when they put it on the list of Most Beautiful Towns in America.
Yes, Beaufort SC is getting more accolades, and we couldn’t be happier.
In its article, the travel & tourism website made sure to note: “Check out the Beaufort Historic District to snap photos of classic architecture framed by Spanish moss, then get ready to eat.”
“A lot.”
“This is Lowcountry territory, after all.”
Indeed.
The magazine made sure to point out, in particular, the wasabi deviled eggs at Old Bull Tavern, shrimp and grits at Saltus River Grill, and lamb meatloaf at Breakwater Restaurant & Bar.”
In being named on the list of Most Beautiful, Beaufort was in some good company with 30 other beautiful towns accompanying it, including Jekyll Island, Georgia, Paia, Hawaii, Jackson, Wyoming, Lake Geneva, Wisconsin, Lake Placid, New York, St. Augustine, Florida, Hudson, New York, and Bar Harbor, Maine. All beautiful towns in their own right.
This isn’t really that much of a surprise. We know that Beaufort is a very beautiful and picturesque place where you will always find that special Southern hospitality.
The accolades really have been pouring in for Beaufort recently, and we couldn’t be more proud.
Recently, Beaufort has been named one of the Best South Carolina Towns for Retirees, the Most Charming Small City in South Carolina, one of the Ten Best Small Coastal Towns.
Beaufort County was even named the Best County to Live in South Carolina.
Our downtown district has been named one of the Ten Best Downtown’s in the U.S., and Beaufort County has been named the Best County to Live in South Carolina.
In addition to those, Southern Living magazine has named the Old Sheldon Church ruins one of the South’s Most Beautiful Chapels; named Hunting Island State Park one of the Best State Parks in the South; and named downtown Beaufort’s Craven Street one of the South’s Most Beautiful Streets. Also, we’re both the Healthiest County in South Carolina and frequently the Most Patriotic Town, too.
