Hey y’all. We’re cute and we know it. In fact, Beaufort SC was just named one of the 12 Cutest Towns in the South by World Atlas, a popular website that offers perspectives on the world in the form of original maps and articles, with a dash of travel & tourism.
“The southern United States is popular for its generous hospitality, long-lasting past, and mesmerizing natural magnificence,” World Atlas said of its article. “From the welcoming and charming to the ancient and cultural, each town offers an exclusive experience that sets it apart from the rest. Voyagers can traverse the twelve sweetest small towns in the Southern United States, exploring each one’s exclusive character and appeal.”
Beaufort topped the list of twelve, and World Atlas had lots of nice things to say about our little town.
Nestled on the banks of the Beaufort River, the picturesque town of Beaufort, South Carolina is famous for its panoramic splendor and distinguished history.” the article said.
“Its historical quarter is full of antebellum mansions and delightful boutiques and eateries. Tourists can have a stroll alongside the riverfront park, which renders beautiful views of the sea and close-by islets.”
“One of the municipality’s top draws is the Hunting Island State Park, which offers miles of untouched beaches and trekking tracks. Nature admirers will also appreciate kayaking through the streams and marshes, where they can detect dolphins and other fauna. Beaufort’s temperate climate and closeness to the seashore make it a well-liked holiday spot for aquatic sports fans and bathers alike.”
It’s good to be cute but this isn’t really that much of a surprise if you’ve ever visited Beaufort SC.
Beaufort is in some “cute” company on the list, too. Other towns made the list including Fredericksburg, TX, Blowing Rock, NC, Helen, GA and Oxford, MS.
Another S.C. town made the list as well. Aiken, SC came in at #8.
The accolades really have been pouring in for Beaufort recently, and we couldn’t be more proud.
Trips To Discover recently named Beaufort the Best Summer Vacation Destination in South Carolina, one of the Most Friendliest Towns in the U.S. and one of the 20 Most Beautiful Small Towns in the U.S.
Just last month, Town & Country magazine named Beaufort one of the Cutest Seaside Towns in the South. (there they go calling us “cute” again!)
In 2022, Southern Living magazine named Beaufort the #1 Best Small Town in the South.
We’ve also recently been named one of the 25 Best Small Towns in America by Architectural Digest; the Most Charming Small Town in South Carolina; one of the Cutest Towns in the U.S. and the Most Quaint Town in South Carolina.
In addition to those, Southern Living magazine named the Old Sheldon Church ruins one of the South’s Most Beautiful Chapels; named Hunting Island State Park one of the Best State Parks in the South; and named downtown Beaufort’s Craven Street one of the South’s Most Beautiful Streets.
