More kudos are coming our way as Southern Living Magazine has just named beautiful Beaufort SC the #2 Best Small Town in the South on it’s list of The South’s Best Small towns 2020.
Southern Living said that this year’s selections are full of personality and charm and they provide an authentic sense of place with devoted locals who get more excited about preservation and reinvention than demolition
The magazine says Beaufort SC is a “coastal gem brimming with charm and hospitality,” with a walkable historic district, great hotels and can’t-miss restaurants.
Southern Living has also warned visitors that they’ll come to Beaufort SC for the scenery….but they’ll end up looking at real estate by the end of the day.
Who was #1? Well, the #1 small town in the south is Williamsburg, Virginia.

Southern Living has been heaping praises all over the Lowcountry as of late. Hilton Head was recently named the 2nd Best Beach Town in the South AHEAD of Key West and Myrtle Beach and our neighbors in Bluffton were in the Top 10 on this year’s Best Small Town list coming in at #9.
Closer to home recently, Southern Living named the Old Sheldon Church ruins one of the South’s most beautiful chapels; named Hunting Island State Park one of the best state parks in the South; and named downtown Beaufort’s Craven Street one of the South’s most beautiful streets.
Charleston has also been voted the Best City in the South and also the South’s Best Food City.
