Popular travel website TheTravel.com has named Beaufort SC at the very top of its list of the Friendliest Town in the United States in a new article published earlier this month.

“One of the most enjoyable aspects of traveling is getting to know the locals in the location that one is visiting. Of course, the more hospitable the locals are, the more fun it is likely that one will have while traveling there,” the article said.
The travel & tourism website made sure to note, “located only 90 miles from Charleston, this 300-year-old settlement is where locals may be seen relaxing on their front porches with sweet tea and enjoying neighborhood crab boils with friends and neighbors.”
“Beaufort, South Carolina, is often cited as an example of Southern hospitality and as one of the nicest places in the United States.”
“Besides being the second-oldest settlement in the state, it is also home to several historic landmarks, beautiful antebellum buildings, a charming shoreline, and delectable local food.”
In being named the friendliest, Beaufort was in some good company with 9 other beautiful towns accompanying it, including Key West FL, Savannah GA, Asheville NC, Charleston SC, Alexandria, VA, Tuscon AZ and Santa Fe, NM.
This isn’t really that much of a surprise. We know that Beaufort is a very friendly place where you will always find that special Southern hospitality.
The accolades really have been pouring in for Beaufort recently, and we couldn’t be more proud.
Southern Living recently named Beaufort the #1 Best Small Town in the South.
We’ve also recently been named one of the 25 Best Small Towns in America by Architectural Digest; the Most Charming Small Town in South Carolina; one of the Cutest Towns in the U.S. and the Most Quaint Town in South Carolina.
In addition to those, Southern Living magazine named the Old Sheldon Church ruins one of the South’s Most Beautiful Chapels; named Hunting Island State Park one of the Best State Parks in the South; and named downtown Beaufort’s Craven Street one of the South’s Most Beautiful Streets.
