“The well-preserved and historic plantation homes, and enormous old trees take travelers back to another time and place.” That’s what TripsToDiscover.com said about Beaufort SC when they put it on the list of Most Beautiful Small Towns in the U.S. this week.
Yes, Beaufort SC is getting more accolades, and we couldn’t be happier.
In its article, the travel & tourism website made sure to note: “One of the oldest towns in South Carolina, it features inland rivers that meet the sea, a Spanish Moss Trail, and historic downtown with waterfront restaurants.”
“Beaufort almost always makes travel experts’ lists of the most charming small towns to visit in the South.”
“Join a walking tour or dolphin-watching cruise, then dine on sea-to-table cuisine at a local restaurant or stroll the picturesque streets lined with live-oak trees and antebellum-style mansions,” it added.
In being named on the list of Most Beautiful, Beaufort was in some good company with 19 other beautiful towns accompanying it, including Key West, Florida; Cooperstown, New York; Fairhope, Alabama; Asheville, North Carolina; Taos, New Mexico; Holland, Michigan and Sedona, Arizona.
This isn’t really that much of a surprise. We know that Beaufort is a very beautiful and picturesque place where you will always find that special Southern hospitality.
The accolades really have been pouring in for Beaufort recently, and we couldn’t be more proud.
Just a few months back, Southern Living named Beaufort the #1 Best Small Town in the South.
We’ve also recently been named one of the 25 Best Small Towns in America by Architectural Digest; the Most Charming Small Town in South Carolina; one of the Cutest Towns in the U.S. and the Most Quaint Town in South Carolina.
In addition to those, Southern Living magazine named the Old Sheldon Church ruins one of the South’s Most Beautiful Chapels; named Hunting Island State Park one of the Best State Parks in the South; and named downtown Beaufort’s Craven Street one of the South’s Most Beautiful Streets.
