Candice Glover, winner of 2013’s season 12 of American Idol, was in an automobile accident near Daytona, Florida on Thursday, November 16th.
According to her post on Facebook on November 20th, the popular singer from St. Helena Island, SC was taking a birthday road trip with her girlfriends, like she always does, and was driving in some rain when her car hydroplaned, slid out of control, and flipped over several times before landing upside down in a marshy area.
“All I could do was sit there,” her post said. “Hands still on the wheel as the car started to fill with water.”
Glover said that a man, “who came out of nowhere and disappeared after,” reached his hand into the car and told her that they had to get out because it [the car] was smoking.
She added that , “the paramedics showed up and said they were CERTAIN that by the looks of it, they would’ve been pulling at least one body out of the car and the others would’ve been fighting to stay alive.”
Fortunately, Candice Glover and her friends escaped the auto accident without injuries.
“We lost a lot in that car and we’re all sore and bruised, but we walked away with our lives,” Glover added in her post, while thanking the staff of Halifax Health Medical Center in Daytona Beach for taking care of her, her three friends and her dog overnight.
“My birthday is this Wednesday [November 22nd] and the best gift I could get was being alive and well. Happy Holidays,” she said.
