There is an easy way you can celebrate Earth Day here in Beaufort on Tuesday, April 22nd…just pick up trash when you’re outside.

It may seem like a no-brainer, but individual efforts to clean up our area have always helped make a huge difference. That’s why families cleaning up individually have been and will continue to be such a big help.

And, it’s actually very easy to help.

Find a local organization that is making a difference and pitch in to help. You can get with them and play your part, or just go it alone.

The Beaufort Litter Patrol is hosting an Earth Day clean up activity along the Spanish Moss Trail on Tuesday starting at 530pm. Here’s some info if you would like to join in.

Pick a local stretch of waterway, or a roadway, or even a local boat landing and get the family together and go out and help. Bring trash bags and rubber gloves too.

It’s a great way for the family to do a project together, a great way to teach the kids some character building, and it’s just an overall good thing to do.

You can even have some fun with it. Pack a picnic lunch and enjoy some down time together on a park bench, picnic table or even along a local dock while taking a break from your volunteer efforts.

You don’t need to celebrate on Earth Day to make a difference. Let’s help build a better Beaufort, together, on Earth Day and every day.
