Coven of witches spotted in Port Royal on Friday afternoon

A coven of witches was spotted in Port Royal on Friday afternoon. But, no, they weren’t up to anything suspect or nefarious. They were just having some fun along Paris Avenue.

The Gas Lantern Original Cauldron Crew hosted The Forgotten Coast Dancing Witches, a Florida-based performance group, for a dance meetup on Friday, at The Gas Lantern Apothecary & Mystical, 703 Paris Avenue, Port Royal.

This lively gathering is part of the Cauldron Crew’s preparations for the Second Annual Haunted Hallows Festival, which will take place on Saturday, October 25th from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Naval Heritage Park in Port Royal.

The Crew has recently been invited to participate in several regional festivals, underscoring the growing popularity of the choreographed “witch dance” that has gained national recognition through community performances and online platforms.

“This collaboration provides an opportunity to exchange ideas, strengthen connections, and refine our performance in advance of the Second Annual Haunted Hallows Festival,” said Shelia Saunders, founder of the Gas Lantern Original Cauldron Crew.

“We were excited to welcome our colleagues from Florida and to sharing this unique tradition with the community. The meetup was not only a chance to connect with fellow dancers, but also a joyful way to prepare for our own Haunted Hallows Festival. The community is in for something truly special this fall.”

In its inaugural event last year, the Haunted Hallows Festival was a big hit, and promises to be even bigger this year, with a spooky, free family event full of music, dancing witches, food trucks, kid’s games and eerie vendor markets, and lots more. Organizers said that there are new surprises just waiting to make you jump outta your socks.
