The two local carriage tour companies that serve our many visitors in downtown Beaufort are offering up locals the chance to take a ride for free.

Sea Island Carriage Company and Southurn Rose Buggy Tours are each offering locals the chance to see what Beaufort’s visitors see when they come to town and take the guided grand tour of historic downtown in the comfort of a horse-drawn carriage.

Sea Island Carriage Company is offering local adults, with ID, a free tour on Saturday, February 16th.

‘It’ll be the works,” said Nichole Grabenbauer, owner of Sea Island Carriage Company. “We love our visitors, but our locals mean a lot to us and we want them to come downtown and enjoy the tour as well. This is their town, after all.”

There’s a lot of history to discover about downtown Beaufort and some seriously cool stories of the city’s unique past can be heard on the tours.

Tickets for the Saturday, February 16th event need to be picked up at Sea Island Carriage Company’s location at 930 Bay Street (look for the red rocking chairs!). Hours for the free tour are 10am to 4pm. Visit the event on Facebook for more information.

On Sunday, February 17th, locals can ride free over at Southurn Rose Buggy Tours at 1002 Bay Street. They’re suggesting reservations to book your free seats. Hours of the free tour are Noon to 5pm.
