Folks in Beaufort, SC are in for another treat this Christmas season. While it’s highly unlikely that anybody will be “dashing through the snow in a one horse open sleigh,” Sea Island Carriage Company will be hosting Christmas Carriage rides through the beautiful Habersham neighborhood during the month of December.
“Experience the magic of the holiday season on a horse & carriage ride through the Southern Living inspired community of Habersham,” a release said.
While Sea Island Carriage Company typically gives narrated historic tours of the downtown
Beaufort area, this won’t be an historic tour. Habersham is always decked out for the Christmas season with the sights and sounds of the holiday including lights, luminaries, and more; and the carriage rides will take you through all of that seasonal beauty each weekend from December 8th through December 23rd.
Sea Island Carriage Company owner, Nichole Bradley, is excited about the event. “We’re over the top excited to do this,” Bradley said. “We’ve wanted to do this here in Beaufort for a few years now, and were finally able to have it all put together.”
Carriage rides are open to the public, and private carriage bookings are also available.
“We have room for everybody,” Bradley said.
According to Bradley, the rides will start every 15-20 minutes, and will leave from 22 Market, along the main street in the neighborhood.
“Our Christmas carriages will hold up to 12 people at a time, so everyone who wants to enjoy the magic of the season will have a seat.”
A dual event between Sea Island Carriage Company and Habersham Marketplace, visitors are encouraged to stick around for awhile after their ride and enjoy the dining and shopping options that Habersham houses in its quaint Marketplace near the front entrance to the community.
“Join us as we create a new tradition on this enchanting Christmas spectacle, riding amidst the twinkling lights and festive porch displays that showcase the true essence of Christmastime in the South,” Habersham Marketplace said in a social media posting.
