What: The Land Preservation Department: Managing the Land, Engaging the Community, and Shaping the Future
Theme: The Beaufort County Land Preservation Department manages thousands of acres of critical habitat within Beaufort County for the purpose of preservation and continued public engagement through free environmental education for generations to come.
Please welcome Destiney Rains, who is the current
Land Preservation Department Naturalist for Beaufort County. She earned her bachelor’s degree in Interdisciplinary Studies from the University of South Carolina Beaufort. Destiney creates and provides environmental education programming opportunities to the public on the County’s passive parks, as well as for schools and private groups. Currently, Destiney is offering diverse, and free, programming including trail talks, birding, fish clinics, and talks on herps and pollinators.
