Join us for one of the most anticipated highlights of the Gullah Christmas Celebration – Da’ Gullah Rice Cookoff! This spirited culinary competition pays tribute to the rich heritage of the Gullah people, whose ancestors brought rice to the United States, transforming South Carolina into the wealthiest colony before the Revolutionary War. Today, rice remains a powerful symbol of tradition, culture, and community.

Da’ Chillin’s Rice Cookoff! (Ages 17 & under)

Young chefs get their moment to shine in Da’ Chillin’s Rice Cookoff. Children and teens will share their creativity while honoring Gullah traditions. Participants 13 and under may be accompanied by one non-cooking adult companion.
