Join us for an Open House honoring South Carolina’s coastal waters and the people who work to study and protect them. Meet SCDNR’s marine biologists, fisheries managers, and educators and get a behind-the-scenes look at their work in a fun and relaxed setting. Open House is a free, family-friendly event with dozens of activities for all ages, including:
+ Observation tanks with live marine animals ๐
+ Fishing and casting tutorials ๐ฃ
+ Research vessel tours ๏ธ๐ฅ๏ธ
+ Dozens of other marine science booths ๐
PLEASE NOTE: Car parking will only be available at James Island Charter High School (1000 Fort Johnson Rd, Charleston, SC 29412), where shuttles will be waiting to transport visitors to the Marine Resources Center. The last shuttle will leave James Island Charter at 3pm.
Parking for bikes, golf carts and disabled parking permit-holders is available directly at the Marine Resources Center (217 Fort Johnson Road, Charleston, SC 29405). Only service animals are permitted.
Admission to the Open House is free and no tickets are required. Food and drinks will be available for purchase on site, and families are welcome to picnic on the point overlooking Charleston Harbor. We encourage visitors to bring their reusable water bottles to fill up at water stations. Only service animals are permitted at the event.
The event will be held rain or shine, so dress for outside weather..
