On September 24, 2022, from 10:00am to 1:00pm, Reconstruction Era National Historical Park will be working alongside community partners at Tabernacle Baptist Church for National Public Lands Day (NPLD) – the nation’s largest single-day volunteer effort!
Volunteers will work to clean historic graveyard headstones around the church, including that of the Honorable Robert Smalls, and will learn the history of the church and grounds from Reverend Kenneth Hodges.
Supplies needed for cleaning headstones will be provided by the park. Those interested in participating must pre-register. Please contact the park Volunteer Coordinator, Rich Condon, for more information (richard_condon@nps.gov or 843-941-3676).
