Join in the fun with Friends of Hunting Island at the annual Pelican Plunge into the (semi) cold water at Hunting Island Beach on New Year’s Day.
A fun event that supports taking care of the state park, the Pelican Plunge is in its 13th year with hundreds of “plungers” enjoying the semi-cold water temps in the low 60s. (easy peasy!)
Everyone meets at the pavilion at the lighthouse on North Beach. Come early and enjoy the pre-plunge festivities. Everyone can enjoy beverages, snacks, and the traditional fun costume parade—which gets more outrageous every year.
Tickets are only $10 for adults and $5 for children.
The Pelican Plunge is one of our favorite annual events and hundreds take the plunge each year. Tax deductible proceeds benefit Hunting Island State Park’s beach and trail maintenance and wildlife habitats and conservation, including the sea turtle program.
It’s so much fun to gather at the beach and take a dip with hundreds of friends.
