Ron Daise Presents “Here Today, Gone Tomorrow” at Heritage Days
St. Helena Island native Ron Daise comes home to Penn Center for the 42nd Annual Heritage Days Celebration.
The author, educator, and former star of Nick Jr.’s “Gullah Gullah Island” presents “Here Today, Gone Tomorrow,” a reader’s theater piece on the life of Prince Rivers, a Gullah leader of the Reconstruction era. Daise weaves poetry, spirituals, and Civil War-era songs into the story of a man whose life reflects the courage and determination of the Sea Islands during one of the most important periods in American history.
