The Summit will begin on Tuesday, May 13, with an opening address by State Representative Jeff Bradley, Chairman of the House Regulations, Administrative Procedures, Artificial Intelligence, and Cybersecurity Committee. Representative Bradley has emerged as a key statewide leader for AI and cybersecurity.
The Honorable Pamela S. Evette, Lieutenant Governor of South Carolina will keynote the Summit at lunch on Day One. Cybersecurity experts from the State Law Enforcement Division (SLED) and the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s (FBI) Cyber Crimes Unit will discuss pressing issues such as hacking, ransomware, and the global rise of cybercrime.
“This will be our best Summit yet”, said South Coast Cyber Center Chairman Warren Parker. “Attendees will have the opportunity to hear from state and national leaders on critical cybersecurity and AI developments, as well as engage in discussions with industry pioneers such as Dr Laura Boccanfuso, CEO and Founder of Van Robotics a South Carolina-based AI company and Dr Jeremy Daly, Colorado State University expert in cybersecurity for the automobile, trucking, and boating industry.”
The Honorable Katie Arrington, former member of the South Carolina legislature currently serving as Chief Information Officer for the Department of Defense will keynote Day Two and close the Summit.
The Summit will welcome students from the University of South Carolina Beaufort’s four-year cybersecurity concentration and the Technical College of the Lowcountry’s Associate Degree program, offering these students valuable networking and learning opportunities.
The event is open to concerned citizens; government and business leaders; and educators and students, providing a platform to engage with experts in cybersecurity and AI in a collaborative environment.
