If you listen to the predictions for this winter from the Farmers Almanac, it’ll be a cold and potentially snowy one in the south. The Farmers’ Almanac is predicting record-breaking winter temperatures this year across nearly the entire U.S., some of which could reach up to 40 degrees below zero.
What are the predictions for winter?
The Farmers’ Almanac has predicted that December looks stormy and cold nationwide. The Almanac says those storms will begin in the first week of January and develop in the Rockies and Plains. During this time, snow could reach Texas and Oklahoma and there will definitely be frigid air.
The Almanac predicts that winter will have plenty of cold temperatures, slushy days and snowy nights.
The week of January 16 through the 23 comes with winter storm threats for the eastern portion of the U.S. with heavy rain and snow expected. After this, it says that there will be one of the coldest outbreaks of arctic air we have seen in several years. This is where the eastern two-thirds of the country will see temperatures dropping 40 degrees below zero.
Will the South see any snow?
“The South may actually see some snow this season,” it said.
How about that, folks? The Farmers’ Almanac has predicted a cold snowy winter in the South?
According to the Almanac, southern parts of the country will experience cold rains and a wintry mix of wet snow, sleet, ice and freezing rain, as well as chilly temperatures in January.
The Almanac describes the pocket of the Southeast with Mississippi, Georgia and Florida as “shivery, wet and slushy.”
After that, don’t worry…it’s also predicting a mild February without any signs of more winter weather coming our way.
