Fat Patties restaurants will once again be offering free burgers for lunch or dinner on Wednesday, September 11th to all first responders who serve both our local civilian and military communities.

According to owner Nick Borreggine, the restaurant does it every year on the anniversary of 9/11 as a way to say ‘thank you’ to them for keeping us safe throughout the year.

This is the 8th consecutive year that the restaurant is giving away the free grub.

According to Borreggine, the first year saw about 40 first responders stop into its Port Royal location, and after opening another location in Bluffton, the number grew to well over 100 since.

“It’s our duty to make sure the next generation knows what happened on September 11, 2001, so that they too will never forget,” Borreggine, also a father of three, said.

“Each year, it is an honor to serve these wonderful, selfless men and women.”

Fat Patties is located at 831 Parris Island Gateway in Port Royal, and at 207 Bluffton Road in Bluffton.
