South Carolina Gov. Henry McMaster has issued a new state of emergency executive order for South Carolina on Monday afternoon, which extends ‘Home or Work’ order 15 more days.

This is the third state of emergency order declared by McMaster since March 13 due to the coronavirus pandemic. Per state law, the new executive order will remain in effect for those 15 days unless the order is modified, amended, or rescinded.

The previous state of emergency was set to expire on April 27th.

By extending the order, every order that has been put into place under it also continues. That includes the state’s “home or work” order, which was first issued on April 6th, and remains in effect for the duration of the state of emergency.

“We’re not out of this yet,” McMaster said to reporters on Sunday in Greenville.

‘If we’re smart, we can come out of it quickly, but we must do so safely,” the Governor added.

Recently, the governor closed all K-12 schools for the rest of the spring and relaxed restrictions on some retail businesses, boat landings and public beach accesses, with discretion given to local governments. S.C. State Parks, including Hunting Island will be reopening with rules and restrictions, on Friday, May 1st.

A spokesman with the governor’s office said that McMaster has the right to cancel any executive order he has issued and may do so if and when it is in the best interest of the health and well-being of the people of South Carolina.
