If you’ve ever wanted to take a ride in a hot air balloon and experience the peace and tranquility you’ll get when you’re in the air over the Lowcountry, now is your chance. The Coastal Discovery Museum over on Hilton Head is hosting a really cool event this weekend with hot air balloons. The Balloon Glow & Laser Show is coming to the grounds of the museum at Honey Horn on September 15th & 16th.

The event will offer tethered hot air balloon rides, weather depending, so you can fly high in the sky over Hilton Head. Going up in a balloon is a great way to see the surroundings and can be quite an adrenaline rush. If you’re afraid of heights, just keep your feet on the ground because there’s lots of other things to enjoy at the event.

Each night after dark, enjoy a hot air balloon Glow & Laser show where all of the hot air balloons are lit up in the Lowcountry sky, and music and lasers create a really cool, visually stunning glow to the balloons and the sky will be glowing over the park.

The event will also have a Kids Zone, with fun things to do including free magic shows, amusement rides and more. Also offered are food vendors with lots of festival style food, a DJ & Live Music for your entertainment from a variety of artists, craft & retail vendor booths with tons of cool and interesting stuff for sale.

Each ticket includes a free personal sized bottle of champagne for the grown ups to toast the Balloon Pilots before the Balloon Glow. Attendees are encouraged to bring your blankets, chairs and umbrellas and set up your own perfect viewing spot.

So, if you’re not sure that you can handle the heights of being up in a hot air balloon, you’ve still got a few days left to work up the courage before Friday and Saturday arrive. You don’t get hot air balloons over the Lowcountry very often.
