When you think about Hunting Island, you think about beauty. You think about wildlife. You think about the beautiful plants, the palmetto trees, and the lush maritime forest. Well, now you can play a part in helping all of that beauty stay beautiful as Friends of Hunting Island has introduced a new project they are developing to assist with conservation efforts at Hunting Island State Park.
In an effort to help maintain the natural environmental beauty, and as a testimonial to their award winning 2022 book “Wild Island Nature”, Friends of Hunting is forming a volunteer group from its membership base to assist in the management and cultivation of the Parks’ flora.
As a member, you will not only play a key role in conservation efforts but also immerse yourself in the rich biodiversity that makes Hunting Island truly special. Your dedication and passion can make a lasting impact, ensuring that generations to come can enjoy our beautiful landscapes.
Led by Master Gardeners, the teams will be assigned locations throughout the Park to maintain and cultivate, while learning the landscape and vegetation from our seasoned project leaders.
You will be able to play your part in making, and jeeping, Hunting Island State Park the beautiful setting that it is, that assists it in being the most visited state park in all of South Carolina, with over one million visitors each year walking its beaches, strolling its nature trails, and enjoying its campground.
Become a Member and select this category on the Volunteer Form and Friends of Hunting Island will contact you as they develop this newly created core conservation project.
Join FOHI today in this rewarding endeavor and help preserve the magic of Hunting Island State Park. If you are not already a member and are interested in this new project, you can visit https://www. friendsofhuntingisland.org/ membership.
