Local business owner donates 40 LifeVac Kits to Beaufort County Schools
Vimal Desai, Chief Operating Officer of HMV Management, and his family, have donated LifeVac kits to all 38 schools in the Beaufort County School District (BCSD). These LifeVac kits are designed to help save lives in emergency situations where individuals may be choking and unable to breathe. The idea for the donation came from Desai’s friend, who started a non-profit organization called Secret Saints Corporation in Savannah, GA. The organization raised funds to donate LifeVac kits to every school in the Savannah-Chatham County Public School System. Inspired by this initiative, Desai reached out to BCSD to see if they would be interested in the same donation. The district was extremely receptive. “BCSD nursing is very grateful for this generous, potentially life-saving donation,” said District Nursing Coordinator, Denise Unruh. “LifeVac’s safe and effective device has an impressive track-record of saving lives, both children and adults. Desai’s parents moved to Beaufort in 1978, and he and his siblings were all raised in the BSCD system. Desai has a deep appreciation for the community that was so supportive to his family and wanted to give back in a meaningful way. “I am grateful for the opportunity to give back to the community that has been so good to my family,” Desai said. “I hope that these LifeVac kits will never need to be used, but if they do, they could potentially save a life.” Desai purchased 40 LifeVac kits to ensure that every school in the district had access to this life-saving tool. He coordinated with the district to arrange a presentation of the kits and is proud to have contributed to the safety and well-being of BCSD students and staff. With the donation of the Lifevac kits, kids in our Beaufort County Schools are now safer. For more information on LifeVac kits, visit their website at https://lifevac.net/.
