Marine Corps Air Station Beaufort will be conducting pyrotechnic display testing on Tuesday, March 18, 2025 between the hours of 9am and 2pm at the Explosive Ordinance Disposal Range aboard the base as part of the ongoing preparations for the upcoming MCAS Beaufort 2025 Air Show.

The display test is designed to simulate the visual effects of a bomb being dropped from an aircraft, however, no actual bombs will be deployed.

These tests are expected to produce bright white flashes accompanied by loud bangs, as well as larger than usual smoke clouds that could reach up to 1,000 feet into the sky.

This controlled event is scheduled in advance, and local emergency services and community members are advised that such displays are anticipated as part of the Air Station’s training and readiness efforts.

“Our team’s professionalism and commitment to safety ensure that while the displays are dramatic, they remain well-controlled and entirely safe for the public,” said Col. Mark D. Bortnem, Commanding Officer of MCAS Beaufort.

“We appreciate the cooperation of our community and local authorities as we carry out these essential preparations for the upcoming Air Show. We hope to see you there!”

MCAS Beaufort, in coordination with local authorities, has taken necessary measures to ensure public safety and to minimize any concerns.
